Sule Lamido Cautions Against Reckless Party Defections

Former Jigawa State governor, Alhaji Sule Lamido, has expressed concern over what he described as irrational defection from one political party to another.

He said the trend is tantamount to eroding Nigerian democratic integrity and dragging the country’s political environment into mud.

Lamido who was irked by unnecessary defection of several prominent PDP figures to rival political parties ahead of the 2027 general elections made the remarks in a post published on his verified Facebook page.

He questioned the moral discipline of those defecting from the party that glorified them to another party for no reason than selfish interest.

Lamido maintained that integrity, confidence , reliability and focused are key element for strong and meaningful political environment that can usher democratic growth and national development.

“ Currently I am was struggling to decipher and understand the political chemistry and direction of the moment in Nigeria in order to make a less confused decision.

“In APC, I have my Governor colleagues like Sen President Akpabio, SGF Akume, Abdullahi Adamu, Governor, Wamakko, Goje, Ganduje, and so on. Even our PDP Vice Presidential candidate in 2023 general election Gov Okowa is now leading Tinubu’s 2nd bid campaign!

“In ADC, I have my leader VP Atiku, my colleague Governors and Ministers like Liyel Imoke, Amechi, Tambuwal, Suswan, Abdulfatah, Lawal Batagarawa, Adamu Waziri and many more!”

“ In NDC, my brother Gov Dickson is the boss. My fellow brother Gov/Minister Kwankwaso is now NDC. Our PDP Vice Presidential candidate in the 2019 general election Peter Obi is also there!”

“ All those mentioned in the above Parties now were the creation and invention of the PDP. Whatever titles or status they hold were conferred on them by PDP. Whatever visibility they now command is all thanks to PDP!!

“Together in 1999 we all labored hard to save and restore Nigeria from a very complex political situation occasioned by June 12. We restored the lost trust, we reconciled our political chemistry, we stabilized the country and started human development in earnest.

We reclaimed our leadership role in ECOWAS and Africa Union. We became a key player on the Word Stage.

“ We knew where we were in 1999! Do we know where we are today, TWENTY SEVEN YEARS after?” Lamido queried
