Türkiye’s National Intelligence Organization (MIT) has carried out a cross-border operation in Syria, capturing suspected Daesh terrorists wanted under internationally coordinated Red Notice warrants, security sources said on Saturday.
Working in coordination with Syria’s Intelligence Service, the operation led to the detention of ten Daesh suspects, who were later transferred to Turkish authorities.
Following judicial proceedings and interrogations, nine of the suspects were formally arrested, while the detention of one suspect was extended pending further review.
According to sources, MIT identified Turkish-origin suspects who had travelled to Syria in previous years and joined the Daesh terrorist organisation operating in the region.
Investigations also indicate that one of the suspects is linked to those responsible for the 2015 Ankara Train Station terror attack, which killed 109 people.
During questioning, suspects revealed Daesh’s structured recruitment and instruction chains, including weapons training, ideological indoctrination and organised propaganda activities abroad.
