A Western diplomat has said Israeli forces expanded their control over additional areas of the Gaza Strip through what is now being referred to as the “orange line”, replacing the earlier “yellow line” established under the ceasefire agreement that took effect on 10th October 2025.
According to the Hebrew-language newspaper Israel Hayom, the diplomat said Israeli forces had seized more territory from Hamas control following recent developments on the ground.
The diplomat reportedly stated that the expansion took place with the knowledge of the so-called “Peace Council” after Hamas failed to fulfil commitments related to disarmament, adding that additional measures could follow.
Under the original ceasefire arrangement, the “yellow line” marked the separation between areas under Israeli military control in eastern Gaza and western areas accessible to Palestinians, covering roughly 53 per cent of the territory.
Senior Hamas official Bassem Naim previously said Israel had pushed the line further west, adding an estimated 8 to 9 per cent more territory and bringing the area under Israeli military control to more than 60 per cent of the Gaza Strip.
