REALS Pharmaceutical Ltd has celebrated three decades of contributions to healthcare delivery, innovation, and community development in Nigeria.
The anniversary ceremony, held at the Victoria Garden Event Centre, Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos, brought together healthcare professionals, industry stakeholders, business partners, staff, and well-wishers to celebrate the company’s remarkable journey and achievements.
A major highlight of the event was a keynote address delivered by Dr. Taiwo Alege, Consultant Family Physician at Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), Ikeja. Speaking on the topic, “Acid-Related Disorders: Which Way Forward?
Dr. Alege provided valuable insights into the growing burden of acid-related gastrointestinal disorders and emphasized the need for improved awareness, timely diagnosis, and effective treatment strategies to enhance patient outcomes.
The celebration also witnessed the launch of Electro Flush, described as Nigeria’s first ready-to-drink Oral Rehydration Solution (ORS). The innovative product is expected to provide a convenient and effective solution for managing dehydration, particularly among vulnerable populations.
Demonstrating its commitment to giving back to society, REALS Pharmaceutical announced a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative through which selected petty traders received empowerment grants of N150,000 each. The gesture was aimed at supporting small-scale businesses/ entrepreneurs and improving their economic wellbeing.
The company also honoured several dedicated employees with Long Service Awards in recognition of their loyalty, commitment, and invaluable contributions to the growth and success of the organization over the years.
The event culminated in the cutting of the anniversary cake, symbolizing 30 years of resilience, growth, innovation, and impact in Nigeria’s pharmaceutical sector.
The Group Managing Director of the firm, Pharm. Adesanmi Popoola said God has sustained the vision called “Reals” for 30 years and made the name a well known brand in the healthcare industry and beyond.
According to him , the journey started over 30 years ago on the desk of his brother and friend, Femi Soremekun, who gave him a seat after he was asked to leave his last paid employment without notice.
Popoola recalled with nostalgia that “the actual business started in the first week of January 1996 with about nine members of staff, which include my secretary, eight others, these are six medical reps of which one is still in the company as Director of Sales and Marketing.”
He stated that despite challenges and storms along the journey, God sustained the business, saying the firm has witnessed ups and dowm, boom and scarcity since in its existence.
He thanked the firm foundational Chairman, Akogun Olanrewaju Adesuyi, Chairman, Board of Directors, Dr. Akinade Ogunbiyi, board members, shareholders, partners, and his wife, Deaconess Foluke Popoola and others for their support.
In his remark, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the firm, Dr. Akin Ogunbiyi said the firm has indeed tremendously influenced Nigeria’ s critical healthcare sector, providing quality and standard medication that people can vouch for.
He described the firm as reputable in championing paradigm shift among Nigerians who relied on natural remedies medications.
According to the Board Chairman,the firm has become one of the major players in the pharmaceutical industry, adding that the feat has been made possible through contributions of stakeholders.
He assured people that the firm will continue to make innovative and affordable medications available to all and never depart from its core values of integrity, innovation, passion and customers focus.
In his goodwill message, the Managing Director of Halewood, Mr. Krustin Chanturvedi, congratulated REALS Pharmaceutical on its milestone anniversary, commending the company’s commitment to quality healthcare products, innovation, and customer satisfaction over the past three decades.
Also, Prince Julius Adelusi Adeloye lauded the dedication and commitment of Popoola whom he described as a man of good character, God has been so kind to the firm even in the midst of challenges in its 30 years journey.
As REALS Pharmaceutical looks to the future, the company reaffirmed its commitment to advancing healthcare solutions, fostering innovation, and contributing meaningfully to national development.
