Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has described himself as a “divine goalkeeper” appointed by God to protect the state from political “intruders” ahead of the 2026 governorship election.
The governor made the statement in a post shared on his verified X (formerly Twitter) handle, where he attributed his confidence in securing re-election to what he described as divine affirmation and the achievements of his administration.
Governor Adeleke, who has already declared his intention to seek re-election in the August 15, 2026 governorship poll in Osun State, said his leadership has been validated both spiritually and through performance in office.
“Today, by the grace of God and the support of the good people of Osun, I have been divinely affirmed as the goalkeeper to man the goalpost of Osun State Government against any potential intruder,” he said.
He further highlighted key achievements of his administration, including developments in infrastructure, improvements in workers’ welfare, reforms in education and healthcare, as well as various grassroots empowerment programmes across the state.
According to him, these efforts demonstrate that his government’s record “speaks for itself” and should form the basis of political discussions ahead of the election.
“As we prepare for the August 15 election, I am ready to visit every town and village to present our achievements and unveil an updated Five Point Agenda for a greater Osun,” the governor added.
Adeleke also urged opposition parties and candidates to focus their campaigns on issues rather than personal attacks, insisting that the people of Osun State deserve a debate anchored on facts, performance, and accountability.
He maintained that his administration remains committed to delivering development and improving the living standards of residents across the state.
“With God on our side and the people behind us, victory is assured. Imole continuity is imminent,” he declared.
The governor’s remarks come amid rising political activities in Osun State as parties begin early mobilisation ahead of the 2026 governorship election, which is expected to be highly competitive.
