The Executive Governor of Imo State, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma has informed the 2026 Batch B Stream l Corps Members deployed to the state that the nation calls upon them to serve, having seen true unity and vision embedded in them .
His Excellency, made the statement during the official swearing In ceremony held at National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Permanent Orientation Camp in Ezaima Obaire Nkwerre LGA of Imo State.
He said the Corps Members having been called to serve, have the responsibility of rekindling hope for a better and more positive Nigeria through the vibrant youth’s resilience, patriotism and hard work.
The Special Guest, represented by the Chairman NYSC State Governing Board who doubled as Honourable Commissioner for Youths Development and Talent Hunt, Hon. Dr Emeka Mandela Ukaegbu reminded the Corps Members that the solemn Oath administered to them is of great importance not a mere recitation.
Rather it is a total commitment/pledge to selflessly put the Nation first, to foster unity despite their diversity and to immensely contribute their intellect, energy and skills to the development of their host communities in Imo State.
He reaffirmed that as Corps Members who are stepping into national service, they have become part of the proud legacy of young Nigerians who over the past five decades have strongly held together the fabrics of our dear nation Nigeria.
Furthermore, the Corps Members were encouraged to embrace skills just as His Excellency, promised that his administration through the Ministry of Youth Development and Talent Hunt will put everything in place to harness their gifted talents.
The Imo State Government equally assured the Corps Members of their welfare and security during the service year, saying collective efforts have been made by the security agencies to ensure their safety.
A total of 1,157 Corps Members were sworn on Oath before the Acting Chief Judge of Imo State Hon. Justice Ijeoma Agugua ably represented by Hon Justice Mathew Ijezie who administered the Oath of Allegiance on the Corps Members.
Earlier in her introductory address, the NYSC Imo State Coordinator, Mrs Doris Erumwunse, appreciated the State Government and the good people of the State for creating a conducive and enabling environment for the Scheme to thrive in the State.
Mrs Erumwunse, cited the great zeal exhibited by the Corps members since entering the orientation camp, which is an indication of their readiness to participate in all camp activities.
She enjoined them to obey rules guiding the orientation to ensure a successful orientation course
Highlights of the event include, the administration of Oath of Allegiance on the Corps Members and display of ‘Thug of war’ by the Corps Members.
