The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, has described the party’s recent electoral successes, including Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s victory in the Ekiti State governorship election and strong performances in nationwide bye-elections, as a clear demonstration of public confidence in the ruling party and the administration of President Bola Tinubu.
Yilwatda said the results reflect Nigerians’ growing ability to distinguish between short-term economic difficulties linked to ongoing reforms and the long-term benefits of structural economic changes, institutional renewal, infrastructure expansion and responsible governance being pursued by the APC at both federal and state levels.
In a statement issued by Abimbola Tooki, Special Adviser to the APC National Chairman, Yilwatda said the outcome of the elections represented a strong endorsement of the party’s governance philosophy.
“The overwhelming victory recorded by our great party in Ekiti State and our remarkable success in the bye-elections across the country represent a powerful endorsement of the APC’s governance philosophy,” he stated.
“These results affirm that Nigerians appreciate leadership that prioritises development, accountability, stability and the welfare of the people.”
He added that Governor Oyebanji’s re-election in Ekiti State was a reflection of what he described as performance-driven politics, arguing that effective governance remains the most decisive factor in democratic contests.

According to him, the governor’s leadership was rewarded for what he called inclusive governance, prudent management of resources, and visible developmental achievements across the state.
“The people of Ekiti State have once again demonstrated that performance remains the most potent campaign message in democratic politics,” Yilwatda said. “Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s resounding re-election is a reward for visionary leadership, inclusive governance, prudent management of resources and visible developmental achievements across the state.”
The APC National Chairman further noted that the party secured victories in five of the six bye-elections conducted across different parts of the country, describing the outcome as further validation of the APC’s growing national acceptance.
He argued that the Ekiti result, in particular, has become a national reference point, reinforcing the party’s claim that governance outcomes directly influence electoral success.
Yilwatda maintained that when governments deliver tangible progress in key sectors such as infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture, youth empowerment, security and social development, citizens respond with renewed trust.
“This victory sends a clear message that governance, not propaganda, remains the most effective route to political legitimacy,” he said. “The people of Ekiti have spoken loudly and clearly in support of continuity, stability and progress.”
Yilwatda also described Ekiti State under Governor Oyebanji as a leading example of APC governance in practice, citing investments in road infrastructure, rural development, human capital development, healthcare delivery, agricultural productivity, workers’ welfare and improvements in the ease of doing business.
He noted that the administration had succeeded in building broad political consensus while maintaining a strong focus on development outcomes, thereby fostering stability and accelerating progress within the state.
“Ekiti today stands as a shining example of how APC governments are translating public trust into measurable development outcomes,” he stated.
Linking the electoral outcomes to the broader national situation, Yilwatda said the results should be understood within the context of President Tinubu’s ongoing reform agenda, which he said is aimed at laying the foundation for a more resilient and globally competitive Nigerian economy.
According to him, while reforms may present temporary challenges, they are necessary for long-term stability, growth and national development, a message he believes voters are increasingly embracing.
