MAKURDI – The Social Democratic Party (SDP), governorship candidate in Benue state, Prof Sebastine Hon, has nominated another woman, Dr Margaret Ogah, as his running mate for the 2027 general election.
Making the nomination public, Prof Hon, observed that Dr. Ogah, is a product of wide consultations, strategic considerations, and a deep commitment to building a united, competent, and people-oriented administration for Benue state.
He called on members of the SDP, and the good people of Benue state to rally behind the Hon/Ogah, ticket as the party works toward restoring hope, strengthening institutions, and rebuilding Benue state.
Subsequently, the leadership and campaign organisation of Prof Hon, said, it welcomes the nomination of Dr Ogah, as the Deputy governorship candidate of the SDP in the state.
The organisation also stated that the nomination of the SDP running mate sends a clear message to the people of Benue state, adding that the rescue and rebuild mission to be embarked on by the Hon administration, is not built on sentiments but on competence, character, capacity, and compassion.
According to the Hon, campaign organisation, Dr. Margaret Ogah, who is a seasoned pharmacist, a community leader, and administrator of international standing, brings with her over three decades of cross-border experience in leadership, service delivery, and human development.
It also noted that her wealth of experience and professional excellence perfectly complement the vision of Prof. Hon for a prosperous, inclusive, and progressive Benue.
The nomination of Dr Ogah, who hails from Obi LGA of the state, the SDP, observed, reinforces the spirit of unity, inclusiveness, and statewide representation the ticket embodies.
The SDP further argued that the previous service of Dr Ogah, under the SDP-led administration of Rev. Fr. Moses Adasu, is a testament to her longstanding commitment to the ideals of good governance and people-centred leadership.
In a related development, Prof Hon, during a state wide consultation has taken his “Food Basket Vision” to the people of the state and political stakeholders on how to turn around the socio-economic fortunes of the state.
The party explained that the platform provided by the organisation is for citizens of the state to lay bare their expectations for what Benue State should become under a new administration.
Hon, who insisted that development must move beyond Makurdi and reach the villages, where the majority of Benue people live, noted that the state economy should be driven by agriculture, agro-processing and investment in skills training for young people.
Stakeholders at the various meetings expressed admiration for the genuine concern of Prof Hon, for ordinary citizens and his willingness to engage directly with grassroots communities.
