The Bala Wunti Support Organisation (BWSO) has pledged to construct a standard refuse dumping site for residents of Aminu Street in the Bauchi metropolis to improve public health and environmental sanitation.
The decision was announced following an assessment visit to the community by the BWSO management team, led by the organisation’s Chief Executive Officer, Malam Mukhtar Ahmed Jarmajo.
Speaking during the visit, Malam Jarmajo stated that the intervention aligns with BWSO’s broader commitment to promoting environmental sustainability and Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) initiatives across Bauchi State.
“The construction of the refuse collection facility will provide residents with a designated and hygienic waste disposal point, helping to curb indiscriminate dumping of refuse and reduce environmental pollution within the community,” Jarmajo said.
He warned that improper waste management poses severe health risks and urged the community to take full ownership and maintain the facility once completed.A resident of the area, Ibrahim Umar Wunti, expressed profound appreciation to the organisation, noting that the community had struggled for years with the absence of a proper waste disposal site.
He commended the BWSO leadership for its responsiveness to the needs of ordinary citizens and assured them of the community’s full cooperation.
The CEO was accompanied on the assessment visit by key officials, including State Coordinator Hon. Sha’abdin Bello Zalanga, Chief Finance Officer Dr. Dauda Umar, Chief of Operations Alh. Ladan Salihu Kangere, Technical Assistant Abdullahi Sa’ad, Public Relations Officer Kamal Ibrahim, and Videographer Adam Mukhtar.
