Chelsea confirm departure of four players ahead of new season

The announcement was made on Wednesday through the club’s retained and released list following the conclusion of the 2025/26 season.
According to the club, defender Brodi Hughes will depart after spending 13 years in the club’s academy system.
“Defender Brodi Hughes leaves the Blues after 13 years in our Academy,” the club stated.

The club also confirmed the departure of Richard Olise, who leaves after a decade at Stamford Bridge.
Midfielder Sam Rak-Sakyi is another player set to leave the club after making four senior appearances.
Rak-Sakyi joined Chelsea’s academy at the age of eight and progressed through the youth ranks while also representing England at youth level. During the 2024/25 season, he made his senior debut in the UEFA Conference League against Noah and featured three more times in the competition.
The fourth player confirmed to be leaving is Jimi Tauriainen.
Tauriainen joined in 2020 and was previously named among the substitutes for the 2024 Carabao Cup final against Liverpool F.C..
The departures form part of Chelsea’s squad restructuring ahead of the 2026/27 season as the club prepares for another campaign under its ongoing development plans.
