ABUJA – The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Tuesday arraigned social media influencer and self-acclaimed relationship therapist, Okoro Blessing Nkiruka, also known as Blessing CEO, before a Lagos Special Offences Court over an alleged N69.1 million fraud.
She was arraigned before Justice R.A. Oshodi of the Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos, on a two-count charge bordering on obtaining money by false pretence and stealing.
The EFCC alleged that the offence involved the sum of N69,150,000 (Sixty-Nine Million, One Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira).
At the commencement of proceedings, the prosecution counsel urged the court to proceed with the arraignment, insisting that the defendant had been duly served with the charge.
The defence counsel, however, informed the court that service of the charge had only recently been effected, describing it as “recently served on the defendant.”
Justice Oshodi ruled that the arraignment should proceed in accordance with the law, stating that it was proper for the charges to be read in open court.
Following the ruling, the charges were read to the defendant, who appeared before the court as the matter was formally opened.
The case was thereafter adjourned for further hearing.
