Ibadan, Oyo State – Social media activist and influencer, Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has called for urgent and decisive action against kidnappers operating across Nigeria, warning that delayed responses to abductions could lead to victims being held captive for years.
Speaking during an ongoing protest as Seen in the Live Video in Ibadan today, VeryDarkMan addressed Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, expressing concern over the growing insecurity and the fate of kidnapped children.
Drawing comparisons with the 2014 Chibok schoolgirls’ abduction, the activist said some of the victims of that tragedy remain unaccounted for more than a decade later.
“This is the same way the Chibok girls were kidnapped back then and till today some of those victims are still in the bush. If you leave these children for too long, they may even be married off by the kidnappers,” he said.
VeryDarkMan stressed that Nigerians could no longer remain silent in the face of recurring kidnappings and called for immediate action to rescue victims and tackle criminal groups.
“That is why we came here to say enough is enough. If you are ready, we are ready to go into the bush and fight them,” he added while addressing Governor Makinde and other protesters.
The protest reportedly attracted residents, youth groups, and concerned citizens demanding stronger security measures and a more aggressive response to the rising cases of abduction and violent crimes in parts of the country.
Kidnapping for ransom has remained one of Nigeria’s major security challenges, with several communities across different states experiencing attacks by armed groups. Security experts have repeatedly called for improved intelligence gathering, enhanced community policing, and increased collaboration between security agencies and local communities.
VeryDarkMan’s remarks have since sparked conversations on social media, with many Nigerians expressing frustration over the country’s security situation and urging authorities to intensify efforts to rescue kidnapped victims and prevent future abductions.
