Fact Check: Were These Women Mobbed For Alleged Child Kidnapping In Port-Harcourt Or Lagos?

A news report by HUBJIST in Phoenix stated that two women implicated in a kidnapping were apprehended and stripped of their clothes in Port Harcourt on May 27, 2026.
According to the blog, the incident took place in a community of Port-Harcourt, and that the two women were taken into custody by a crowd after being forcibly stripped.
The report was tagged as “Nigeria Hardship Cause It; Two Women Involved In Kidnapping Caught And Stripped Naked In Port Harcourt”.

The fact check revealed that the incident took place in Lagos on September 30, 2022, along Ikosi Road, near Ketu, Lagos, not Port-Harcourt, as the blog falsely reported.
Hubjist reported the four-year-old incident as if it were fresh, prompting various readers’ concerns.
Three women, one man were involved and beaten to stupor for alleged attempt to kidnap 10-year-old girl.
Benjamin Hunydeyin, the former spokesman for the Lagos State Police Command, confirmed the incident. He identified the suspects as Kehinde Ashaolu aged 64, Bisola Olaitan aged 58, Alira John aged 45, and Adegbenga Adeyemi
The event occurred on September 30, 2022, along Ikosi Road, close to Ketu, in Lagos, not in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
