The long-running tension between Nigerian singer Portable (real name Habeeb Badmus) and his estranged partner, actress Omobolarinde Akinyanju, popularly known as Ashabi Simple, appears to have flared up again after a brief period of calm.
The pair previously fell out after allegations that the actress had her children’s father arrested over claims of maltreatment involving her siblings. Although the issue seemed to die down, fresh drama has now emerged months later.
Reports indicate that Ashabi Simple’s mother recently reached out to the singer to congratulate him on welcoming a child with his wife, Bewaji. During the conversation, the elderly woman reportedly appealed to Portable to provide financial support for his children with Ashabi.
She was said to have prayed for the singer and his family while speaking kindly to him. Following the conversation, Portable allegedly transferred ₦200,000 to assist with the children’s upkeep.
However, Ashabi Simple took to her Instagram story to express her displeasure, accusing the singer of neglecting his children for six months before finally sending money. She questioned whether ₦200,000 was appropriate after such a long period of silence.
The actress further claimed that the money would not have been sent if her mother had not intervened. She stressed that she is hardworking and not the type to beg for support, insisting that she only expects what her children rightfully deserve.
In another revelation, Ashabi alleged that Portable once claimed to miss his children and requested to see them, but after they returned, he allegedly gave them only ₦18,000. She also noted that she and her children live relatively close to the singer.
The situation has since sparked mixed reactions online. While some fans commended Ashabi Simple’s mother for her calm and mature approach in resolving the matter, others criticized the actress, suggesting she should be prepared for the full responsibilities of raising her children, especially since she is no longer in a relationship with the singer.
