Gov. AbdulRahman panics, coerces Kwara traditional rulers to endorse his controversial governorship candidate

Amid the heated political terrain in Kwara State and the ongoing showdown between the governor, party elders, and the majority of party members, the governor is reportedly reacting in panic to the fallout from the recent meeting held by the Kwara State APC Elders Caucus, a meeting that addressed the controversial manipulation of the governorship candidature allegedly perpetuated by the governor.

In response, the governor has summoned all the first-class traditional rulers in the state in a bid to secure an endorsement for his controversial candidate, one who is largely rejected by party members.

The move to involve the traditional rulers is seen as a desperate measure by the governor to force his preferred candidate on the party.

Party members, however, remain restive over his unilateral choice, made without due consultation, further inflaming the political landscape in Kwara State as the governor continues to thwart peaceful efforts to collaborate and strengthen the party.
