The Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters issued a warning directed at Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, stating that any large-scale Israeli attack on the southern suburbs of Beirut would trigger a response targeting northern Israel.
According to the statement, Netanyahu’s regional policies and any evacuation orders issued for residents of Beirut’s southern suburbs would be met with measures that would “bring the battle” into northern Israeli cities and settlements. The statement also called on residents of northern Israel to leave the area.
The warning came amid reports that Netanyahu and Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz had instructed the Israeli military to prepare intensive strikes against what Israeli officials describe as key Hezbollah positions in Beirut’s southern suburbs.
According to the reports, Israeli officials stated that the area would not remain exempt from military action while attacks against northern Israeli communities continue.
At the same time, the Israeli military reportedly expanded evacuation warnings to additional towns and villages south of the Zahrani River, as well as areas in the districts of Sidon and Jezzine District, signaling a possible widening of military operations in southern Lebanon.
The reports also stated that Hezbollah responded to Israeli military actions and threats by launching rockets and attack drones.
