Israeli Channel 12 claimed on Sunday evening that it had obtained parts of what it described as the “secret security annex” to the framework agreement between Beirut and Tel Aviv.
The channel claimed the annex had remained undisclosed at the request of the Lebanese government, while permission had been given to publish its main provisions.
According to the report, the annex states that the Israeli army’s withdrawal will not follow a fixed timetable but will instead depend on developments on the ground and assessments of the security situation, meaning there is no commitment to an automatic withdrawal.
The channel also claimed that the annex grants the Israeli army freedom to carry out military operations within the so-called Yellow Line to respond to immediate or emerging threats.
According to the report, the Lebanese army’s deployment will not be expanded in the near term without Israeli approval. It added that there are currently only two pilot areas, and that the Lebanese army’s deployment there is expected to take several weeks.
The channel also cited Israeli assessments expressing concern that Iran could seek to influence the course of the agreement by pressuring the United States to push Israel towards a full withdrawal from the areas covered by the agreement.
