The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party( PDP) for Ekiti North Senatorial District, Dr. Olusegun Osinkolu, has said that the party’s flagbearer, Dr. Wole Oluyede, has what it takes to reduce poverty among citizens,
While predicting that Governor Biodun Oyebanji will be defeated in the June 20, 2026, poll, Osinkolu, opposition parties, and stakeholders have agreed to support Dr. Oluyede, whom we believe can develop the state,
Osinkolu, who is also the convener of “Rainbow Coalition” — an alliance of different political parties in Ekiti working to unseat Oyebanji — said this at a rally in Ayede Ekiti.
According to him, the PDP candidate remains the best option for governance in Ekiti at this time.
“He has what it takes to reduce poverty among citizens, rejuvenate the economy, and ensure the security of lives and property. Dr. Oluyede’s agenda is a comprehensive manifesto focused on real development and inclusiveness,” he added.
He said the group would deliver PDP candidate Dr. Wole Oluyede as the winner in the poll.
“After consultations, a series of meetings, and background checks on candidates of various opposition parties, stakeholders agreed to support Dr. Oluyede, whom we believe can develop the state,” Osinkolu said. He noted that one or two Candidates later pulled out of the arrangement, but the majority of their supporters stayed.
“Ekiti people are no doubt tired of the present administration under Governor Oyebanji because of insecurity, poverty, poor infrastructure, and stagnation. Hence the need for a change,” Osinkolu said.
While assuring the people of adequate protection before, during, and after the poll, he commended them for their determination to vote for the PDP candidate. The PDP chieftain also urged Ekiti people to come out en masse on Saturday to exercise their franchise and “liberate the state from the hands of current political opportunists holding it hostage.”
He assured residents that under Oluyede’s leadership, Ekiti would witness rapid transformation and that citizens’ welfare would be prioritized.
Addressing a crowd drawn from Moba, Ido/Osi, Ilejemeje, Oye, and Ikole LGAs at the event tagged “Ekiti Oke Interactive & Stakeholders Meeting” under Rainbow Coalition, Dr. Oluyede thanked the people for turning out en masse.
He lamented the current level of poor performance under Gov. Oyebanji and promised to bring needed development to the state.
He also assured voters of adequate protection during the governorship election, saying nobody would be allowed to intimidate or harass Ekiti people for exercising their franchise.
The event was attended by politicians from the PDP, YPP, Accord Party, APC, and ADC, among others.
