KANO — Leading figures from Nigeria’s Hausa entertainment industry last Sunday launched what they described as a prayer-driven campaign against banditry, terrorism, kidnapping, and other security threats troubling the nation.
The gathering, convened by the Triple R Kannywood Renewed Hope Initiative and led by celebrated Kannywood icon, Alhaji Dauda Adamu Kahutu, popularly known as Rarara, drew a large crowd of actors, filmmakers, musicians, scriptwriters, authors, social media influencers, and supporters to the Aminu Dantata Trade Fair Complex in Kano.
The event transformed the venue into a solemn arena of worship as participants offered prayers for peace, national unity, and the success of security agencies battling criminal elements across the country.
Addressing the gathering, Rarara said the initiative was inspired by the need for citizens to support ongoing efforts to restore peace and security in Nigeria.
«”Our security personnel are making tremendous sacrifices to protect lives and property under very difficult circumstances. As citizens, we believe prayer is also a powerful tool. We are here to seek Allah’s intervention and to pray for the success of government and security agencies in overcoming these challenges,” he said.»
He stressed that the fight against insecurity requires collective responsibility, urging Nigerians to remain united and continue praying for the country’s stability and progress.
In a move aimed at sustaining the effort, Rarara announced the constitution of a standing committee to coordinate regular prayer sessions across the state.
The committee is chaired by Nura Hussaini, with veteran actor Sharu Nagudu serving as vice chairman.
The programme began with recitation of verses from the Holy Qur’an, followed by special supplications led by Islamic scholars. Organizers also slaughtered a cow and a ram, with the meat distributed to members of the public as part of prayers for divine mercy and lasting peace in communities affected by violence.
Participants offered fervent prayers for Allah to expose and defeat those behind acts of terror and bloodshed, including bandits, kidnappers, and other criminal groups.
They also prayed for an end to the cycle of violence that has claimed lives and displaced thousands across parts of the country.
Organizers said the gathering forms part of the Triple R Kannywood Renewed Hope Initiative’s broader mission to mobilize spiritual support and community engagement in strengthening national peace, security, and social cohesion.
