Lady Accused of Theft in a Business Area Allegedly Beaten And Stripped N@ked by Mob in Rivers State

A disturbing incident in a busy commercial area of Rivers State has sparked outrage after a woman accused of stealing from a shop was allegedly assaulted and stripped naked by some women in the vicinity.

As seen in the Trending Video, the incident reportedly occurred on a busy trading street, drew a large crowd as tensions escalated following the accusation. Eyewitnesses say the woman was first confronted by traders who accused her of attempting to steal goods before the situation quickly spiraled out of control.

According to an eyewitness who identified herself simply as Ngozi, the confrontation began when the woman was allegedly caught behaving suspiciously around a shop counter.

“She was standing close to the goods and someone shouted that she was trying to steal. Before we knew it, people started shouting and dragging her. Some women in the area then joined in and it became chaotic. It was not supposed to go that far,” Ngozi said.

Another trader in the area condemned the action, describing it as a “mob reaction that went too far.”

“No matter what she did, nobody has the right to take the law into their hands. The beating and stripping were unnecessary. We should have called the authorities instead,” the trader added.

The woman accused in the incident, who appeared shaken and humiliated, denied the allegations of theft. Speaking briefly after she was rescued by a few passersby, she insisted she was wrongly accused.

“I did not steal anything. I only went there to ask for prices. Suddenly, people started shouting and beating me. I kept telling them I did nothing wrong, but nobody listened,” she said.

The incident highlights growing concerns over mob justice in parts of Rivers State, where suspects are sometimes subjected to public assault before investigations are carried out by security agencies.
