The Nigerian Army has said no major security incident has been recorded along the Abuja–Kaduna road and rail corridor in recent years due to sustained military operations and the deployment of troops.
The Commander of Sub Sector 4, Operation Fansan Yanma, Sector 1, 1 Division Nigerian Army, Col. I.R. Adom, disclosed this during a media tour of military formations in Kaduna.
According to him, troops are responsible for securing the Abuja–Kaduna expressway, rail corridor, nearby communities, and critical national infrastructure within the area.
He said, “For about two years now, there has been no major security incident on the road. This is due to the proactive actions of the troops deployed on both the road and rail corridors.”
Adom said troops have continued to put pressure on bandits and other criminal groups, leading to improved security and safer movement for travellers.
He also revealed that soldiers recently rescued some kidnapped victims along the Katari–Gurara road, an area previously affected by insecurity.
The commander further disclosed that rival bandit groups recently clashed around Rijana and Gwagwada over cattle rustling activities.
“There was an infighting among some bandit groups along the Rijana axis and also the Gwagwada axis. Some bandits were neutralised during the clash,” he said.
Adom assured residents that the military would continue aggressive operations against criminal elements and urged the public to support security agencies with useful information.
