NULGE Reacts as Akwa Ibom Govt Clears Backlog of Salary Arrears

The Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) has reacted to the payment of long-outstanding arrears owed to its members by the Akwa Ibom State Government after several years of delay.
In a statement on Wednesday, the state NULGE President, Anestina Iweh, said the development had brought significant relief to local government workers across the state.
According to reports, the Akwa Ibom State Government recently cleared the backlog of arrears owed to local government employees following approval by Governor Umo Eno.
Reacting to the payment, the union said the gesture had restored confidence in the administration among workers who had waited years for the settlement.
NULGE described the action as a major milestone in efforts to strengthen the local government system and improve service delivery in the state.
“The successful payment of the outstanding arrears is a significant demonstration of the administration’s commitment to workers’ welfare and wellbeing,” the union said.
“The payment has restored confidence in government and renewed the morale of workers who patiently awaited the settlement of these outstanding obligations.”
