A female fan of Alexx Ekubo has passed away amid burial preparations for the actor.
Earlier, GistReel reported that the actor passed away on May 11, 2026 at Evercare Hospital in Lagos.

According to a statement released by his family, he died from complications of advanced metastatic kidney cancer.
Meanwhile, Alexx Ekubo’s burial is scheduled for June 18, 2026, in Arochukwu, Abia State.

The death of the female fan identified as Maltida popularly known as Iya Ibadan was announced in a lengthy tribute on her Instagram account.
According to the heartfelt tribute, Matilda’s death comes amid her role in the burial arrangements for Alexx Ekubo.

According to the post, Matilda’s untimely death occurred while she was heading home.
“She met her untimely death on her way home on Wednesday evening. The news has left us shocked, deeply saddened and struggling to come in terms with the painful loss”,The post reads.
Prior to her demise, Matilda served as a bridge between Alexx Ekubo’s wife’s group and his family.
