Opposition Presidential Candidates Lack Tinubu’s Capacity, Performance Record – Umahi

Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, has said that available facts and empirical evidence show that none of the opposition parties’ presidential candidates possess the demonstrated courage, capacity, and performance record of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Umahi stated that the 2027 general elections should not be driven by sentiment but by sincere considerations and decisions that would advance Nigeria’s overall development and national interest.

The minister made the remarks while leading members of the Renewed Hope Media Team on an inspection tour of ongoing Federal Government projects across Ebonyi State.

He disclosed that Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State would lead stakeholders in the state on Monday to formally endorse President Tinubu as the state’s sole candidate for the 2027 presidential election.

“We are very grateful to the President, and we are happy with our governor for what he is doing. On Monday, the governor will lead all of us to demonstrate our appreciation to Mr. President,” Umahi said.

“We are not voting for anybody else other than the President and the governor. None of these presidential aspirants , and I still call them aspirants because, in some of the parties, there are more than four aspirants and no candidate has officially emerged , can match the President’s performance.”

The minister also expressed satisfaction with the progress of the N25 billion Onueke Flyover project in Ezza South Local Government Area, one of several projects being executed by the Federal Government in Ebonyi State.

He said the project is expected to be completed on or before December 2026.

Managing Director of Age Link Group, Chief Enekwachi Akpa, whose company is handling the project, said the flyover was awarded in May 2025.

He noted that although the company was yet to receive full mobilisation funds, substantial progress had been recorded on the project.

According to him, residents of Ebonyi Central Senatorial District, where the flyover is located, are pleased with the development.

Also speaking, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Community Engagement (South-East), Mrs. Chioma Nweze, described the Tinubu administration as inclusive and attentive to the infrastructural needs of the South-East region.

“We thank Mr. President because this is the first time the South-East has been fully included in the scheme of things in this country,” she said.

She listed several ongoing federal road projects in the region, including the Enugu-Onitsha, Onitsha-Owerri, Enugu-Port Harcourt, and Enugu-Abakaliki roads.

Nweze also highlighted the construction of a 700-span flyover at Eke-Obinagu in Enugu State, which she said has significantly addressed the persistent traffic congestion previously experienced along the corridor.

She further commended the Federal Government for the ongoing construction of the Ndibe Beach Bridge, describing it as a landmark project that will connect Ebonyi and Cross River states.

“We are thanking Mr. President because he has been intentional about the South-East and has shown us that we are part of Nigeria,” she said.

“We are encouraging our people to stand up and be counted. We will vote for the President in the next election because we have seen the promises he has fulfilled, not promises yet to be fulfilled.”
