The Redeemed Christian Church of God(RCCG) has dismissed allegations that its General Overseer, Enoch Adeboye, campaigned for the government in power, insisting that the respected cleric has consistently maintained a neutral position on partisan politics.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the church described the claims as misleading and inaccurate, stressing that Pastor Adeboye has never endorsed any political party or candidate on behalf of the church.
The church maintained that such encouragement should not be misconstrued as support for any political party or government.
According to the statement, the PFN had instructed member churches to hold the grand finale of a three-day prayer programme at a central venue and conduct a rally around the location rather than proceed with earlier arrangements.
The church noted that the directive was communicated to all churches affiliated with the PFN across the country and was not a personal decision by Adeboye.
It explained that the cleric’s approach has traditionally centred on moral guidance, prayer, counselling and advocacy for righteous leadership rather than engaging in partisan political confrontation.
“Let it be clearly stated: Pastor Adeboye and The RCCG will not be defined by falsehood, and neither will the Church remain silent while inaccurate narratives are repeatedly circulated as facts,” the statement added.
The clarification comes amid ongoing public discussions about the role of religious leaders in political discourse and national development, with RCCG reiterating its commitment to spiritual leadership while encouraging civic responsibility among its members.
