Students’ Unions Hail Governor Zulum For Revitalising Educational Sector In Borno Amidst Challenges

In a resounding show of support, various students’ unions across Borno State have applauded Governor Professor Babagana Umara Zulum for his relentless efforts to revitalize the educational sector, despite the significant setbacks caused by armed conflict in the region.

Speaking with our Correspondent, one of the students’ leaders in Maiduguri, expressed their gratitude for the governor’s commitment to restoring hope and opportunity to the youth of Borno, who have faced immense challenges in accessing quality education due to years of violence and unrest.

One of the prominent voices, Abba Ali, a former noted student leader, emphasized the administration’s determination to provide an educational framework that caters to all citizens. “Governor Zulum understands the crucial role education plays in transforming lives. His administration has remained steadfast in its mission to ensure that our right to education is upheld, despite the obstacles that we have faced,” Ali stated. He highlighted the significant investments in school infrastructure, teacher training, and other steps and programs aimed at encouraging students to pursue their studies.

Over the past few years, Governor Zulum has initiated several programs to rebuild schools damaged or destroyed by conflicts, and has also worked towards increasing the enrollment of students in various academic institutions. The governor’s efforts include the establishment of learning centers and the recruitment of additional teachers to meet the growing needs of the student population.

Students’ unions have noted that these initiatives are beginning to yield positive results, with a noticeable increase in classroom attendance and student participation in educational programs. “It is evident that the Zulum administration is committed to ensuring that education remains a priority,” said Fatima Ibrahim, another student leader who added voice to the assessment of education in the state.

As the state continues to heal from past traumas, the support from students signifies a collective belief in a brighter future for Borno. The unions have called on all stakeholders to join hands with the government to sustain these educational reforms, urging a focus on academic excellence as a pathway to peace and stability.

Governor Zulum has reaffirmed his commitment to Borno’s youth, promising to continue his work in transforming the educational landscape of the state. “Education is the cornerstone of development,” he noted during a recent town hall meeting, further igniting optimism among students and their supporters.
