The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) says it has restored the Alaoji–Owerri 132kV Transmission Lines 1 and 2 following repairs to faults that caused outages along the transmission corridor.
In a statement, TCN said both lines were successfully re-energised on Wednesday, with Line 1 restored at 7:05 p.m. and Line 2 at 7:06 p.m., returning the transmission corridor to full operation.
According to the company, the two lines tripped on Tuesday, prompting maintenance crews to identify the fault locations and begin repairs immediately.TCN said Line 1 was initially restored on Tuesday evening, allowing partial restoration of bulk electricity supply to Imo State, Yenagoa in Bayelsa State and parts of Rivers State, including Ahoada.
The company explained that Line 1 was temporarily de-energised to enable engineers to safely repair Line 2, citing the risk of electromagnetic induction between the closely located high-voltage transmission lines. TCN said the temporary outage was approved by the Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO) with the concurrence of the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) and the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company (PHEDC).
With both lines now fully operational, TCN said EEDC and PHEDC can receive full bulk power for distribution to customers in the affected areas.The company apologised for the disruption caused by the outage and reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a reliable and efficient national electricity transmission network.
