The Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Media and Public Communication, Sunday Dare, has reiterated the government’s commitment to ending terrorism in Nigeria.
Naijaonpoint reports that the presidential spokesperson commended the nation’s security forces for their efforts in the fight against terrorists, kidnappers, bandits and other criminals operating in the country.
He, however, added that no matter how long it takes, the only option is for the terrorists to surrender or be eliminated.
He emphasized that President Tinubu will never surrender to the demands of the terrorists.
“These victories, arrests and pressing against terrorists and kidnappers by our soldiers must be praised and recorded as part of the security success of the Tinubu administration. President Tinubu has since vowed that we will not surrender. The terrorists must surrender or be decimated,” he wrote on his 𝕏 Account in reaction to a confirmation from the Nigerian Army that troops recorded a major operational success with the arrest of a suspected high-profile arms trafficker linked to an interstate illegal weapons network.
Recall that President Tinubu expressed shock over the death of retired Major-General Rabe Abubakar while in the custody of terrorists in Katsina State.
In a statement by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President noted that General Abubakar, after a distinguished career in the military, retired a few years ago, adding that he was on his way to his hometown when the hoodlums captured him.
The statement said that “While the terrorists have done their worst, the President wants them to know that the government will never bow to their demand to release their members held by our security agencies.”
