British police have arrested three suspects in connection with the fatal stabbing of British-Nigerian musician Mark Orabiyi, whose death has triggered a murder investigation in London.
Orabiyi, 35, sustained multiple stab wounds during an incident at a residential property on Rayleigh Road on Friday.
Emergency responders rushed to the scene after receiving distress calls, but efforts to save him were unsuccessful. Metropolitan Police officers, who arrived alongside paramedics, found him critically injured in the garden of the property.
He was subsequently pronounced dead at the scene.
While formal identification procedures are yet to be completed, authorities confirmed that the deceased has been identified as Mark Orabiyi. Specialist officers are currently providing support to his family.
In an emotional tribute, family members described him as a cherished son, brother, uncle, and friend. “Mark brought joy, kindness and warmth to everyone around him.
His remarkable talent and generous spirit touched countless lives, and his memory will remain with us forever,” they said.
Police disclosed that three suspects two men and a woman were arrested shortly after the incident.
A 27-year-old man was subsequently released on bail pending further inquiries, while a 24-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman were released after questioning with no further action taken against them.
Investigators also revealed that a second victim, a 20-year-old man, suffered multiple stab wounds during the incident and was hospitalised for treatment.
His injuries were described as non-life-threatening.
Detective Chief Inspector Joanna Yorke, leading the investigation, described the killing as tragic and appealed to the public for information.
“This is a deeply upsetting incident, and our thoughts remain with Mark’s family and loved ones.
Our investigation is progressing, and we urge anyone who was in the area at the time or may have captured relevant CCTV or video footage to contact the police,” she said.
