Why MFM Suspended Vigils Nationwide — Church Admin

The Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM) has suspended vigils and other late-night church ac­tivities across its branches nationwide over growing security concerns in the country.

The directive, which took immediate effect, was com­municated in an internal circular dated June 5, 2026, and signed by the ministry’s Director of Administration (International Headquar­ters and Nigeria), Temitope A. Olawale.

Under the new arrange­ment, all church services, meetings, programmes and activities at every level of the ministry must end on or before 8:00 p.m. until further notice.

The church said the decision was taken as a precautionary measure to safeguard worshippers, church workers and other stakeholders amid the pre­vailing security situation across Nigeria.

The circular was ad­dressed to Principal Re­gional Overseers, Senior Regional Overseers, Mega Regional Overseers, Zonal Pastors, Branch Pastors and other leaders of the minis­try, directing them to ensure full compliance with the in­struction.

As part of the measures, the church announced the suspension of vigils, over­night prayer sessions and similar programmes in all branches nationwide.

However, the ministry noted that where such pro­grammes are considered necessary, they may be con­verted to evening prayer meetings, provided they are concluded no later than 8:00 p.m.

MFM explained that the move was not intended to hinder worship activities but to prioritise the safety and well-being of members in view of security challeng­es being experienced in dif­ferent parts of the country.

The church also directed Mega Regional Overseers to immediately disseminate the information to all re­gions, zones, branches and departments under their su­pervision to ensure effective implementation.

According to the circular, the directive will remain in force pending further re­view by the leadership of the ministry.

The development comes as religious organisations and other institutions con­tinue to adopt additional safety measures in response to concerns over insecurity in parts of the country.
