World Cup 2026: fans react as Germany puts 7 past Curaçao.

Four time world cup champions Germany kicked off their opening match against debutants Curaçao in style as they scored seven in a dominant encounter.
Germany started brightly with Nmecha’s opener, but Curaçao shocked the world by putting one back, this gave the underdogs a memorable moment and the score was briefly tied.
Germany regained control before half time and exploded after the break. They scored six unanswered goals, showing depth, attacking prowess, and clinical finishing.
Fans and Expert Reactions
The showing from Germany earned plaudits from fans around the world, while some saw it as just another day for the Germans, some fans commended the carribean side for even getting a goal.

Social media saw praises for the German team, one fan, Olateju Isaiah, shared on Facebook “Germany looks like the only team ready for business, it was a show of no mercy”. One X account, TouchmineX, compared the defeat to that of Brazil in 2014, citing it as the heaviest defeat in the world cup since then.
Curaçao received praise on X, as fans commended the new comers for being able to get a goal against the European heavyweights, one X account @quest_vis commented on the Curaçao team page “you guys did your best, I loved every bit of the game, the best is yet to come”.
Emotions ran high as Curaçao manager, Dick Advocaat was seen teary after his side scored their maiden world cup goal. Social media clips showed Curaçao fans in ecstatic celebration all around the stadium and beyond.
Some fans had Zero pity for the carribean side as they taunted them. One fan wrote, “the hydration break killed Curaçao’s momentum and they drank German goals to quench further thirst”. Another fan said “that single goal is all they came for, that is the trophy they are taking back home”
Germany take on Ivory Coast in their next match and will be looking to recreate this dominant showing, Curaçao will look to bounce back from this defeat when they face Ecuador.
