You Have Lost Your Mind – Oyo Govt Fires Fayose Over Claims Of Orchestrating Kidnapping

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has reacted to recent allegations made by former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose, calling on Nigerians to pray for the former governor rather than engage in political exchanges.

Naijaonpoint reports that Makinde’s position was made known on Tuesday through a statement issued by the Oyo State Commissioner for Information, Dotun Oyelade.

Fayose had alleged that the Oyo abduction may have had political motives and suggested that it was intended to embarrass President Bola Tinubu.

He further claimed that the Oyo State Government might have had a role in the incident, though he did not provide evidence to support the allegation.

Reacting, the Oyo State government described Fayose’s remarks as baseless and said they had surprised many Nigerians.

It maintained that the governor was concentrating on efforts to tackle the security challenges facing Oyo State, especially the ongoing search for abducted pupils and teachers.

According to the statement, Makinde is currently focused on supporting security agencies and finding solutions to the kidnapping cases in the state.

The government said it would not be distracted by political attacks while efforts are ongoing to rescue those still in captivity.

The commissioner also criticized Fayose over his recent comments, saying the former governor’s actions and statements were capable of creating unnecessary tension at a time when authorities were working to secure the freedom of kidnapped victims.

The statement read in part: “Governor Makinde is too preoccupied with finding a solution to the challenges posed by the kidnappers of children and teachers in the state to engage someone whose lifestyle and comportment have been suspect over a long time.

“For a former governor to be so consumed by the politics of vindictiveness, vileness, deceit and hate, that he would further endanger the lives of those in captivity and distract security agents from handling this delicate job, smacks of one who has lost his mind.”
