The All Progressives Congress has recorded fresh defections in Kano State after several of its members in Kumbotso Local Government Area joined the Nigerian Democratic Congress ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The defectors, most of whom are youths, were formally received into the NDC on Sunday by the party’s Kano State Publicity Secretary, Yusuf Rabiu Fasaha, alongside Captain Nafe, the party’s House of Assembly candidate for Kumbotso.
The ceremony was described by party officials as a significant boost to the NDC’s growing presence in the local government area, with the new members pledging their commitment to the party and its programmes.
Addressing the gathering, Fasaha said the wave of defections reflected the increasing acceptance of the NDC among young people in the state.
He assured the new members that they would enjoy equal opportunities and be fully integrated into the party’s activities and leadership structure.
Captain Nafe also welcomed the defectors and urged them to strengthen the party’s grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 polls.
He maintained that the NDC remains committed to youth empowerment and people-focused representation.
