The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a scheduled preventive maintenance at its Katampe 132/33kV Transmission Substation in Abuja.
The company said the exercise would take place on Saturday, July 4, 2026, between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm.
This was disclosed in a statement issued by TCN’s General Manager, Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, Naijaonpoint reports.
According to the statement, the maintenance will enable TCN’s technical crew to carry out preventive work on the 100MVA 132/33kV Power Transformer, known as TR1, its auxiliaries and associated switchgear at the substation.
As a result, the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company will be unable to off-take bulk power for onward distribution to customers in some parts of the Federal Capital Territory during the maintenance period.
The affected areas include parts of Mpape, Maitama, Jahi, Life Camp, Kado Power to Fish Market, Idu-Karmo and their environs.
TCN said the planned maintenance was necessary to keep its equipment in good condition and ensure optimal performance.
“TCN regrets any inconvenience this planned outage may cause electricity customers in the affected areas and notes that equipment maintenance is essential to ensure their continued optimal performance,” the statement added.
The company appealed to residents and electricity customers in the affected communities to bear with it during the seven-hour outage.
