The National President of the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), Hon. Muhammad Magaji Gettado, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the early distribution of fertiliser to farmers across the country ahead of the farming season.
Speaking in an interview with journalists, Gettado said the timely intervention would boost food production during both the dry and rainy seasons while strengthening Nigeria’s agricultural sector and the economy.
He said the President’s commitment to supporting agriculture through various intervention programmes demonstrates his determination to enhance food security and national development.
According to him, AFAN has already flagged off fertiliser distribution in several parts of the country, with the next phase expected to commence in the North-East.
“We have successfully flagged off the fertiliser distribution in many regions in line with the programme, while the next phase of distribution will be carried out in the North-East at the appropriate time,” he said.
Gettado stated that under his leadership, AFAN would continue to introduce programmes aimed at transforming agriculture, promoting early farming activities and ensuring bumper harvests across the country.
He also expressed appreciation to President Tinubu for prioritising the agricultural sector and commended the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Sen. Abubakar Kyari, for the implementation of government programmes aimed at improving agricultural productivity and supporting farmers nationwide.
