Air Peace Evacuates Additional 268 Nigerians from South Africa, Completes Third Humanitarian Airlift

Air Peace has successfully concluded its third humanitarian evacuation mission from South Africa, bringing home 268 Nigerian nationals as part of the Federal Government’s ongoing efforts to repatriate citizens affected by recent xenophobic tensions in the country.

The latest evacuation, carried out on Thursday, was conducted using the airline’s Boeing 777-200 wide-body aircraft, further demonstrating Air Peace’s long-haul operational capability and continued support for national humanitarian initiatives.

With the completion of the latest operation, the airline has now safely evacuated a total of 801 Nigerians in three separate missions organised in collaboration with the Federal Government.

According to the airline, the first evacuation flight on June 11 returned 262 Nigerians, while a second operation on June 30 airlifted 271 citizens. The third mission on July 3 brought home another 268 Nigerians, bringing the cumulative figure to 801 evacuees.

The airline described the achievement as a reflection of its unwavering commitment to national service and its readiness to respond promptly whenever Nigerians require assistance beyond the country’s borders.

Air Peace noted that the evacuation exercise was part of the Federal Government’s coordinated response to ensure the safe and voluntary return of Nigerians affected by the recent wave of xenophobic incidents in South Africa.

The carrier stressed that its role extends beyond commercial air transport, emphasising its dedication to reconnecting Nigerians with their families and providing hope during periods of uncertainty and crisis.

The successful completion of the third evacuation mission, it added, further highlights the strong partnership between Air Peace and the Federal Government in delivering timely humanitarian interventions aimed at safeguarding the welfare of Nigerian citizens abroad.

The airline also said the latest operation reinforces its reputation as Nigeria’s foremost humanitarian carrier, pointing out that it has undertaken more than 16 humanitarian and evacuation missions since commencing operations.

These interventions, according to the airline, have involved emergency repatriations, crisis-response operations and other national assignments across Africa and beyond, with Air Peace deploying its fleet and operational expertise whenever required.

Reaffirming its commitment to national priorities, the airline pledged to continue supporting government efforts by providing safe, reliable and efficient air transport services, especially during emergencies.
