Amotekun Operative ‘Accidentally’ Shoots Man in Oyo

An operative of the Amotekun Corps, Abdulafeez Alabi, has been arrested following the accidental shooting of a man during an attempt to arrest two persons involved in a violent altercation in Saki area of Oyo state.
Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency publication, quoted police sources as saying the incident occurred at about 7pm on Thursday at Ayemojuba Kosigi village, via Saki.
The matter was reported to the Saki police division on Friday by Abdullahi Dogo, chairman of the Miyetti Allah Fulani association in Saki, who said two men of Fulani extraction engaged in a cutlass fight.
Alabi allegedly discharged his firearm accidentally while attempting to arrest the two men, fatally hitting one of them.
The victim reportedly died at the scene.
A locally fabricated single-barrel gun and one expended cartridge were recovered from the scene.
