APC Stakeholders Commend Tinubu for Retaining Shettima As Running Mate

Some leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the North-East have commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over the reported retention of Vice President Kashim Shettima as his running mate ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The position was contained in a statement issued on Saturday by the Coordinating Chairman of the North-East APC Youth Critical Stakeholders Forum, Comrade Haruna Sardauna.
The forum said the decision reaffirmed the North-East’s place in the country’s political arrangement and expressed appreciation to the President for retaining the vice-presidential slot in the region.
According to the group, Shettima’s retention recognises his contributions in office and provides continuity in the administration.
Sardauna said the forum had previously advocated that the vice-presidential ticket remain in the North-East ahead of the 2023 elections and welcomed the reported decision to maintain the arrangement.
The group also pledged to mobilise support for the APC in the 2027 general elections, arguing that young people constitute a significant proportion of registered voters in the North-East.
It further said retaining the vice-presidential position in the region acknowledged communities affected by the Boko Haram insurgency and cited ongoing federal interventions in reconstruction, humanitarian support and security.
The forum also claimed that the Tinubu administration had undertaken infrastructure and development projects in the North-East and expressed confidence that Shettima’s continued place on the ticket would sustain those efforts.
It called on APC members and other stakeholders in the region to support the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
