Bashir Are Sponsors Eight Lagos Residents into LagRide Drive-to-Own Programme

The Chief Executive Officer of the Lagos State Lotteries and Gaming Authority (LSLGA), Mr. Bashir Are, has sponsored eight residents of Lagos Island into the LagRide Partner Programme as part of efforts to promote economic empowerment and entrepreneurship in the state.

The initiative covers the beneficiaries’ training at the LagRide Drivers Academy as well as the cost of the vehicles allocated to them under the scheme.

The beneficiaries successfully completed the academy’s driver training programme and were certified before receiving the keys to their vehicles, marking the commencement of their participation in the LagRide Partner Programme.

Under the initiative, the new drivers will earn daily income through the LagRide rental scheme before transitioning to the Drive-to-Own programme, which enables them to eventually take ownership of their vehicles.

Speaking during the presentation ceremony, Are described the initiative as a sustainable empowerment programme designed to create employment opportunities while helping participants build long-term economic independence.

Chairman of LagRide, Chief Diana Chen, said the programme provides beneficiaries with a pathway from employment to business ownership, noting that it is aimed at improving livelihoods through structured mobility and entrepreneurship opportunities.

Also speaking, Hon. Dr. Princess Omolara Oyekan-Olumegbon commended the initiative, describing it as a practical model for sustainable economic empowerment capable of creating lasting benefits for participants.

The vehicle keys were presented to the beneficiaries by Are alongside Chief Diana Chen, Hon. Dr. Princess Omolara Oyekan-Olumegbon and Ms. Mildred Ekanem.

The LagRide Partner Programme forms part of broader efforts to expand employment opportunities in Lagos through technology-driven transportation services while supporting participants on the path to vehicle ownership.
