Bauchi Igbo Community Elects New Executives, Re-elects Ifemenem As President-General

The Igbo Community in Bauchi State (ICB) has elected a new executive team to lead the association for the next three years following a peaceful and hitch-free election.
The election, which took place on Sunday at the Larema Hotel and Suites in Bauchi, saw Chief Ignatius Ifemenem re-elected unopposed for a second consecutive term as the President-General of all Igbo-speaking towns and communities residing in the state.
In a closely contested race for the position of Vice President-General, Dr Okolo Christopher Chuks secured victory for a second term by defeating Elder Emma Ogbonna with 54 votes to 42.
Several other executive members also assumed office unopposed. They include General Secretary: Nobel Jude Elekwanya, Assistant General Secretary: Igwe Calistus, Treasurer: Samuel Okah, and Chief Provost: Solomon Ushi.
Additionally, a block of officials was elected through a consensus arrangement to fill key administrative, financial, and welfare roles.
They include Financial Secretary: Patrick Onuorah, Assistant Financial Secretary: Sunday Nneli, Chief PRO: Emmanuel Nnadozie, Assistant PRO: Ndubueze Agu, Provost II: Anselem Osi Internal, Auditor: Onwuha Okechukwu, Assistant Internal Auditor: Monday Amaliku Mike, Welfare Officer I: Jude Ekegbuchie, and Welfare Officer II: Okoro K.
In his acceptance speech, Chief Ifemenem expressed gratitude to the community and reiterated his administration’s unwavering commitment to fostering peace, harmony, and love within the Igbo community and with their host communities in Bauchi State.
“I urge our members to continue promoting the bond of unity among themselves and with our hosts,” Ifemenem stated,
He emphasized that mutual cooperation remains vital for the socio-economic, commercial, and political advancement of the people and the state as a whole.
The re-elected President-General concluded by calling on all contestants to put the election behind them and rally around his administration to forge a united front that will elevate the community.
