“Before I was born, there was hunger in Nigeria” – Tinubu defends his administration amid economic hardship

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has defended his administration’s performance, saying his government inherited enormous challenges but has succeeded in stabilising the country, with prosperity now on the horizon.

Speaking during a recent engagement, Tinubu acknowledged the economic hardship facing many Nigerians but insisted that the quality of life is gradually improving under his leadership.

According to the President, the problems confronting the nation did not begin with his administration, noting that hunger had existed in Nigeria long before he was born.

Tinubu also called on religious leaders to continue giving Nigerians hope, stressing that churches and other faith-based organisations have a responsibility to encourage humanity during difficult times.

“I inherited the liability of my predecessor, and I have been running with it. But this government has stabilised, and there’s prosperity on the horizon. The quality of life is improving. Before I was born, there was hunger in this country. And I have no control over the population development trajectory of Nigeria.”

That is why you have membership in your various faiths and churches, to give hope to people and give commitment to humanity in the true sense of it,” he said.
