Benue 2027: President, NKST Synod, Adure, Prays For Prof Hon, Seeks Unity Among Politicians

President of Universal Reformed Christian Church in Nigeria, formerly known as Nongu U Kristu u Sudan hen Tiv, NKST, Synod, Rev. Dr. Asongu Adure, has preached peace to contestants of various political positions ahead of the 2027 elections.

Adure, who made this known while praying for the governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Prof Sebastine Hon (SAN), also declared that all things in life end by God’s design, insisting that God chooses who leads, at the right time.

He also presented before God the governorship ambition of the SDP candidate, who was at the ongoing annual Synod, held in Mkar, Gboko Local Government Area (LGA), of Benue state, last weekend.

According to Rev Adure, who played host to Hon, “God chooses leaders. All things end by God’s design. We are happy for your wise counsel. We have seen you face-to-face. We present your desire to God Almighty, who knows all things.

“People are in different political parties. May God grant them unity for a united front for the development of our land. May God grant us peace. This is a Holy family”, said Adure.

Thereafter, the Synod President called on Rev. Prof. Terundu Mbachilin to lead the special prayers offered for the success of the SDP candidate.

Earlier, while addressing the congregation, Prof Hon restated his commitment to fighting for humanity, which he said he as a person has done for decades.

Lamenting the state of affairs in Benue, Hon, who declared that “This is the time to fight for our survival”, stated that he is troubled by the killings in the state, because of his love for human life.

He observed that Enugu and Zamfara states have demonstrated commitment to tackling banditry by investing in high-tech security hardware.

Taking a quote from Romans 13:1-4, Hon said God grants leaders power to defend their people. And, the greatest security is to ensure equitable development and empowerment of the people against poverty, disease and hunger.

“I will be a servant leader. I will be accessible and won’t be arrogant. Leadership is service to the people. I will be just and fair to everyone as I will rule with the fear of God,” he vowed.

The SDP governorship candidate promised to tackle poverty by returning farmers to the land, providing farming inputs, establishing a marketing board, building rural roads and giving grants.

Another strategy, he said, he would deploy is to ensure massive industrialisation of the state through Public-Private Partnerships (PPP).

Speaking on local government administration, Prof. Hon said councils would be granted full autonomy to enable progress in line with the manifesto of SDP, stressing, “I will empower them to award contracts at that level.”

Soon after the visit, Prof. Hon visited the NKST Humanitarian Foundation in Mkar, where he donated money and held prayers with orphans at the facility.
