The Delta State Police Command has arrested Asaba-based content creator Ifeanyi Ogbonna, popularly known as Odogwu, in connection with the alleged rape of a 20-year-old nursing student, Favour Agbro, who later died after reportedly ingesting insecticide.

Police said the 40-year-old suspect allegedly invited the student to Asaba under the pretext of mentoring her in content creation before taking her to a hotel room, where she was allegedly sexually assaulted.

According to the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, the victim later recorded a video describing her experience before consuming insecticide. She was taken to a hospital but was confirmed dead while receiving treatment.

In a statement shared on his verified X account, Edafe confirmed that Ogbonna had been taken into custody and that investigations into the case were ongoing.

A video circulating on social media also shows the suspect in police custody appealing to the deceased’s family. In the clip, he said, “This is a very terrible mistake. I’m ready to give everything.”

The circumstances surrounding the incident, including the allegations against the suspect and the cause of the victim’s death, remain under police investigation. Authorities have not announced any formal charges at the time of this report.
