‘Fake’ PFIPC: Sowore Alleges Cover-Up In Adeyemi’s Arrest, Demands Gbajabiamila’s Probe

Human rights activist and presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, has alleged that the arrest of Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi is part of an attempt to cover up an alleged ₦400 million bribery scandal, insisting that President Bola Tinubu’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, should also be investigated if authorities are genuinely seeking the truth.

Sowore made the allegation on Wednesday in a series of posts on his social media platforms while reacting to Adeyemi’s arrest over allegations of forgery, fraud and impersonation.

According to him, Adeyemi’s arrest and reported treatment by security operatives appear to be aimed at concealing the facts rather than ensuring a transparent investigation.

He argued that if law enforcement agencies were carrying out an impartial probe, Gbajabiamila would also be arrested and questioned over the allegations.

Sowore wrote, “BIGGEST COVER-UP EVER, WHY IS TINUBU’S CHIEF OF STAFF, FEMI GBAJABIAMILA, NOT UNDER ARREST?!”

He added, “The arrest and reported dehumanisation of Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi, the alleged Director-General of a ‘fake agency,’ points to what appears to be an official cover-up rather than a genuine search for truth.”

The AAC presidential candidate further stated, “By now, President Tinubu’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, should also be under arrest and investigation if the authorities are truly committed to uncovering the facts.”

Sowore also alleged that key individuals and evidence linked to the purported ₦400 million bribery scandal had either disappeared or been destroyed.

According to him, “So far, the individual alleged to have collected the ₦400 million bribe on Femi Gbajabiamila’s behalf has reportedly died under mysterious circumstances, while the hotel allegedly used for the exchange has since been demolished.”

He further accused the Tinubu administration of obstructing justice.

“In addition to the actual crimes, we are now witnessing obstruction of justice by the Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu criminal regime,” Sowore said.

Meanwhile, the Federal High Court in Abuja had ordered Adeyemi’s arrest after he failed to appear for his arraignment on an eight-count charge bordering on alleged forgery, fraud and impersonation.

Adeyemi was expected to take his plea before Justice Mohammed Umar, but his absence when the case, marked FHC/ABJ/CR/562/2025, was called prompted the court to issue a bench warrant for his arrest.

The charges, filed by police prosecutor Wisdom Madaki on November 27, 2025, also involve two other defendants who are expected to stand trial alongside Adeyemi.

The prosecution has listed several witnesses expected to testify during the trial, including Gbajabiamila, Paul Emmanuel, Jeremiah Imoukhede, Ituah Sylvester, two officials of the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation—Akimbo Shola and Adamu Balongu—as well as a Deputy Superintendent of Police.

Adeyemi is accused of forgery, fraud and impersonation in connection with the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), an organisation the Presidency has said is non-existent and not recognised as a government agency.

The alleged impersonation of the council’s Director-General forms part of the prosecution’s case against him.
