Nigerian rapper, actor and activist, Folarin Falana, popularly known as Falz, has called on Nigerians to actively participate in the 2027 general elections, insisting that citizens must use their votes to hold political leaders accountable.
Speaking during an interview on Prime Time on Arise Television on Tuesday, Falz said Nigerians have not shown enough outrage over the country’s challenges, urging them to translate their frustrations into meaningful political action.
According to him, the belief that votes do not count only benefits politicians who seek to manipulate the electoral process.

“It looks like a lot of people are listening. I’m hoping that even more people will listen and be encouraged. One thing that we keep on saying is, we’re not enraged enough.
“We’re not angry enough. We need to react more. A lot of times we speak truth to power and point fingers, but we have to challenge ourselves also,” he said.
The entertainer stressed that voting remains the most effective way for citizens to influence governance, adding that politicians would not invest heavily in vote-buying or attempts to manipulate election outcomes if the electorate’s votes were insignificant.
“The most important people for this are first-time voters. If our votes didn’t matter, politicians would not be doing everything within their power to try and influence results. If votes didn’t matter, there would not be vote buying,” he stated.
Falz argued that a massive voter turnout would make it difficult for anyone to undermine the electoral process.
“If there is an overwhelming majority of people moving in a certain direction, it will be impossible for them to cheat,” he added.
His comments come as political parties continue preparations for the 2027 general elections, with campaigns and voter mobilisation expected to intensify in the coming months.
The award-winning entertainer has remained an outspoken advocate for good governance, accountability and electoral reforms, frequently using his platform to encourage civic participation and demand greater transparency from public office holders.
