The Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to transforming recovered proceeds of crime into strategic investments in education following the formal handover of recovered assets by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to the Federal Ministry of Education for deployment across educational institutions nationwide.
Receiving the assets, the Honourable Minister of Education, Dr Maruf Tunji Alausa, CON, described the restitution as another demonstration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to education, human capital development and the Renewed Hope Agenda.
He noted that recovered assets are being redirected to improve learning infrastructure, expand access to quality education and enhance students’ welfare.
Dr Alausa commended the Executive Chairman of the EFCC, Mr Ola Olukoyede, for ensuring that recovered assets deliver tangible benefits to Nigerians.
He recalled that previous recoveries supported the establishment of the Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia, and provided seed funding for the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND).
The EFCC formally transferred 501 double-decker bed frames, 939 mattresses and 12 wooden beds with mattresses recovered during Operation Eagle Flush.
