Nigerian singer Paul Okoye, better known as Rudeboy of the famous music duo Psquare, has publicly expressed his deep connection to his Igbo heritage and Nigerian identity.

On Wednesday, July 29, 2026, the singer took to his official X account to highlight the importance of culture, language, and identity, stating that he would be “a nobody” without his roots.

Sharing a message alongside a short video featuring cultural elements, Paul wrote:

“I’m a ‘nobody’ I repeat!! a nobody!! without the culture, native, language, the pride, of a Nigerian 100% proudly Nigerian 🇳🇬 100% proudly Igbo.”

The post quickly gained attention from fans and social media users, with many praising his strong identification with his Nigerian and Igbo background.

However, some followers linked the statement to the ongoing public differences between Paul and his twin brother, Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr P.

The conversation emerged shortly after Peter defended his children’s decision to learn and speak French after some critics questioned whether the choice suggested a lack of connection to Igbo culture and language.

Following Paul’s declaration, several fans viewed his remarks as an indirect response to the criticism surrounding his brother’s stance, interpreting it as a reflection of the brothers’ differing views on cultural identity.
