INEC opens 2026 recruitment portal for entry level positions

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced its 2026 recruitment exercise, inviting qualified Nigerians to apply for entry-level positions across Grade Levels 07, 08, 09, 10 and 12.

According to a notice published on the commission’s website, the application portal opened on Monday, July 20, and will close on Monday, July 27.

INEC said the recruitment exercise is aimed at strengthening its workforce to enhance electoral administration, voter registration, data management and election logistics across the country.

The commission urged interested applicants to submit their applications through its online recruitment portal by creating an account, completing the application form and uploading the required credentials.

It emphasised that the application process is free and warned applicants against submitting false information or forged documents, noting that anyone found guilty would be disqualified and could face prosecution.

The vacancies are divided into three categories, comprising professional, administrative and executive cadres.

Under the professional cadre, available on Grade Levels 09, 10 and 12, the commission is recruiting accountants, clinical officers, lawyers, ICT officers, engineers and quantity surveyors.

Applicants for the positions are required to possess a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in the relevant discipline, while some roles may require a master’s degree and recognised professional certifications such as those issued by the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (NIQS), Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN) or Computer Professionals Registration Council of Nigeria (CPN).

The commission also requires candidates to have at least two years of post-qualification experience, an NYSC discharge or exemption certificate, and strong analytical, communication and ICT skills.

For the Administrative Officer II (Registration Area Officer) position on Grade Level 08, applicants must possess a bachelor’s degree, Higher National Diploma (HND) or equivalent qualification in the Social Sciences, Humanities or Sciences, alongside an NYSC discharge, exemption or exclusion certificate and proficiency in data management and computer applications.

The Executive Officer (Registration Officer) position on Grade Level 07 requires applicants to possess a National Certificate in Education (NCE) or its equivalent, with knowledge of computer operations, data handling and good communication and organisational skills.

INEC said applicants must also present a valid certificate of state of origin signed by the chairman or secretary of their local government area, be medically fit, not be older than 35 years, possess good character with no criminal conviction, and be willing to serve in any part of the country.

The commission advised applicants to visit its recruitment portal, create an account using their personal details, email address and National Identification Number (NIN), verify their email, select a preferred vacancy, upload all required documents and submit their applications online.

It added that applicants would not be allowed to change their selected vacancy after submission and noted that only shortlisted candidates would be invited for the next stage of the recruitment exercise.
