A four-month-old Palestinian infant died on Sunday after his family prevented from reaching a hospital by Israeli forces at a military checkpoint west of Ramallah, according to Palestinian officials. Separately, a 16-year-old Palestinian was killed during an Israeli military raid on Qalandiya refugee camp, north of Jerusalem.
Ramallah and Al-Bireh Governor Laila Ghannam said doctors at the Arab Specialized Hospital declared the death of Ahmed Marouf Zeid, a four-month-old infant, after Israeli forces delayed his family’s passage for more than an hour at a military checkpoint at the entrance to the village of Deir Ammar.
According to Ghannam, the infant was being transported for urgent medical treatment when Israeli soldiers prevented the family from passing through the checkpoint. She further alleged that soldiers fired tear gas at civilians and vehicles in the area, preventing the child from receiving timely medical care.
Ghannam described the incident as “a stain on humanity,” accusing Israel of using checkpoints, road closures and military gates to restrict the movement of civilians, patients and ambulances.

She said the infant was his family’s only child after years of waiting and argued that the incident reflected a broader policy that violates the rights to life, movement and access to healthcare.
Ghannam also accused Israeli authorities of targeting Palestinian civilians through military operations, settler attacks and restrictions on medical access.
Separately, the Palestinian Ministry of Health announced the death of Walid Nidal Walid Abu Suneina, 16, who was shot by Israeli forces during a raid on Qalandiya refugee camp.
The ministry said two other Palestinians were wounded by live ammunition during the same operation.
Earlier, the Jerusalem Governorate reported that Palestine Red Crescent teams had treated a teenager who sustained a gunshot wound to the thigh during the raid before he was transferred to hospital, where he later died.
The Israeli military had not immediately commented on either incident.
