A Nigerian man has sparked widespread online debate after recounting how he allegedly walked out of a first date with a woman he met on Snapchat, following what he described as an uncomfortable interrogation that ended with him driving away from the restaurant and leaving her with the bill.

According to the man’s account, which has since gone viral, the date began normally before the woman started firing rapid questions at him without allowing him to respond in kind.

He claimed he eventually noticed she was feeding his answers into ChatGPT on her phone to generate follow-up questions.

The encounter allegedly escalated when the woman took his phone, unlocked it at her instruction, and proceeded to scrutinise his Instagram and Snapchat accounts, commenting on the number of women engaging with his content.

She reportedly insisted she should be the only woman in his life outside of family if they were to pursue a relationship.

The man said the date took a further turn when she allegedly asked whether he had brought her an expensive gift, claiming a “real man” should arrive with one. He told her the gift was in his car, excused himself to retrieve it, and drove away.

He added that he chose not to block her number, intending for her to settle the bill before seeing a post he had made about the experience.

In a humorous conclusion, the man revealed he is married, joking that “cheating now in Lagos is too expensive.”
